Daniel Michael Lerner, DO
Dr. Daniel Lerner grew up in Brookfield, Connecticut and pursued his undergraduate degree at The Pennsylvania State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Life Science.  He continued his education in Chicago, Illinois at Midwestern University where he pursued a Master’s degree in BioMedical Science. In addition to the prescribed coursework he completed an original research project, and had a publication in the Journal of Immunology in June 2009. After graduate school he stayed in Chicago to attend medical school at The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. An osteopathic medical student takes all of the same coursework as a traditional allopathic (MD) medial student; except osteopathic (DO) medical students partake in four hours per week of osteopathic manipulative medicine.  An Osteopathic physician (DO) believes that individuals are a combination of mind, body, and spirit. Making DO’s by nature more empathetic and more detail oriented. DO’s take all of the same medical specialty licensure / board exams as traditional MD’s. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Lerner attended St. Joseph Hospital’s Family Medicine Residency program in Chicago, Illinois (which is affiliated with the University of Illinois at Chicago). During his third and final year of residency, Dr. Lerner was elected to Chief Resident by his peers and faculty.  He served as the scheduling Chief, and organized all of the hospital on-call, and residency clinic schedules for all 18 residents among other things.

After completion of his residency training, Dr. Lerner returned to his home state of Connecticut to continue his medical practice. He started at East Granby Family Practice in July 2016. In May 2017, Dr. Lerner was elected to the Board of Directors of St. Francis HealthCare Partners. He is passionate about being a patient advocate in both clinical practice and at the organizational level. He serves on the Physician Pharmacy Quality and Improvement Committee, and the Accountable Care Organization Corporate Compliance Committee at St. Francis Hospital. As an Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine of the Quinnipiac School of Medicine, he enjoys teaching medical students the specialty of family medicine at the East Granby Family Practice office.  In January 2019 Dr. Lerner became a partner at East Granby Family Practice.

Dr. Lerner provides a wide range of medical care for all ages of patients.  His special interests in family medicine include pediatrics and adolescents, evidence based medicine, and management of chronic conditions.

In his free time Dr. Lerner enjoys golf, snowboarding, music, movies, playing the guitar, and spending time with family and friends.
